This is terrific. My husband schedules weekly phone calls with his cousin, and I always think it's more of an obligation done this way. But you've helped shed some light onto this ritual. Makes me want to call a friend now :)
I can see obligatory energy being a minor issue. I often resent that the call is on my calendar. I'd rather not do it. But I/we are ultimately better for it. It's a good habit for those of us who don't gravitate toward regular calls, but I can totally buy that some folks mileage may vary.
